Location questions

How to pick a region and what to expect for ping.

Which location should I pick?

Pick the region closest to most of your players. US East works well for all of North America (roughly 20–60 ms for most players). EU – Germany covers the UK and continental Europe at roughly 15–45 ms. A mixed group can still play together fine β€” co-op games like Valheim and Minecraft stay smooth at up to ~150 ms.

What ping can I expect?

As a rule of thumb: same coast ~20–40 ms, cross-country ~60–80 ms, cross-Atlantic ~90–130 ms. Anything under 150 ms feels responsive in survival and sandbox games.

Can I move my server to another region later?

Yes. Open a ticket or email support@hostsimple.io and we will migrate your world, mods, and configs to the other region β€” usually within a day, with nothing lost.

Do all locations have the same features?

Yes. Every region runs the same NVMe hardware profile with DDoS protection, automatic nightly backups, and full file and console access. Pricing is identical in both regions.
